Trump is cracking
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/opinions/wp/2018/11/12/trump-is-cracking/ His performance in Europe was panned.
The election results get worse for Republicans with each passing day.
His great North Korea diplomacy, contrary to the gullible pundits and political spinners, was a bust. (He was snookered.)
We now have two major Middle East problems — Iran and out-of-control Sunni despots who think (not unreasonably) they can lead him around by the nose.
He is not winning the trade war, and it may be one of many factors leading to an economic pullback before the 2020 election.
Mueller plows ahead, with possibly more indictments (e.g., Roger Stone, Donald Trump Jr.). The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York (aided by Michael Cohen’s cooperation) has its own case(s) to pursue against Trump and/or his helpmates.
Obamacare is here to stay. It’s more popular than ever, and red America has fallen in love with Medicaid expansion.
Trump’s finances are no longer protected from scrutiny, nor are his daughter and son-in-law’s.
not bad, maybe the washingtonpost is doing fake news ?
i wouldnt call it fake news, i would call it wishful thinking.
His performance in Europe wasnt great, but his base wont care and the outcry over it is coming from those news outlets who have been hostile towards him ever since his nomination.
The election results are mostly baked in. There's some shady shit going on in Florida, but it's unlikely that it will be enough to swing either the senate or the gubernatorial race during the recount. Recounts very rarely change the outcome of elections. That some close House races in California would swing Democratic had to be expected since ballots arrive in Cali days after an election, and since late-arriving ballots in Cali have always been leaning Democratic. At the end of the day, the outcome of the Senate can still be seen as a success for Republicans, and the losses in the House were kept to an average level for the first midterms of a rather unpopular president. Considering the flurry of negative coverage against republicans by the mainstream media and considering the astronomical fundraising advantage that Democrats had, Trump and the GOP can certainly live with the magnitude of this long-expected loss.
On North Korea, we will have to wait and see what comes out of it.
On the trade wars: Trump has already found some success in his saber-rattling/renegotiating efforts with Canada and Mexico, and there are plenty of reports on how much his measures and tariffs are hurting the Chinese. Who will come out ahead of the trade wars with China remains to be seen - at the moment, there is neither overwhelming proof for the U.S. winning, nor for China winning.
The autocrats of the Middle East have been on their current trajectory since long before Trump got into office. The current situation in the Middle East is the result of Bush pushing over the first domino in an extremely volatile and unstable region of the world, followed by Obama making things worse by weakness and half-assed measures.
The image of Mueller being the shining knight who's coming to the rescue, slaying the big bad dragon with a magic bullet, is just silly, naive, wishful thinking from the liberal author of that opinion piece. Right now, with Whitaker in charge, chances are high that the Mueller probe will fizzle out.
On Obamacare, she's probably right. Trump and his party will just flipflop on the issue and pretend like their calls to "repeal and replace obamacare" were happening in a bizarro universe. Just like they already did during the midterms campaign.
