all the democrats have to do is hammer home the message that trump isnt doing the workers in the midwest/rust belt any favors with his policies. wisconsin, michigan and pennsylvania are leaning democratic still, and it will not be easy for trump to again pull off the same kind of mobilization and turnout that he had in 2016, when he was still fresh and a lot of people could project their hopes into him.

just nominate a candidate who is at least somewhat resonating with midwestern voters, and the democrats have a very competitive and clear path to the WH. running Hillary again might be the single most idiotic choice. no other candidate lacks in midwestern appeal as much as her, and it's not like the progressive voters in florida, georgia, texas or other sunbelt states will turn out in droves for her to compensate.
