Biden is only in acceptable shape if the jobs report portends a robust economy which avoids a sizable recession, and if the Inflation Reduction Act really passes, which is far from sure as of right now. And even then, the I.R.A. will not be a big political winner on its merits, its main effect would be to signal that the Biden admin is not dead yet and can still pass productive legislation.
