It's your ancestors but it's our grandparents

It's your "settling" and building a civilization" but it's the genocide and slavery of our people by your "ancestors" where the mistreatment and inequality carried over into the 1900s and in some way still exists today through law and enforcement

and you conservative clowns have the nerve to call poor immigrants running from extreme poverty this country contributed to invaders

Which countries did we cause the poverty in and how, tho.

if you're referencing banana republics that's a fairly weak point, even tho the relationship was highly exploitative the countries themselves still experienced net gain in the long run in terms of modernization. Their overpopulated state itself is a result of the modern technology we imparted on them. modern exploitation is really just us being willing to buy beef and soybeans at a price that encourages them to burn their own rain-forests to farm them, hardly our fault inherently. you can blame a drug dealer for dealing drugs, but u cant blame him for his customers selling their mother's jewelry to complete the exchange.

US natives have a far stronger case for exploitation and honestly comparing it to even war ravaged asylum seeking immigrants cheapens your own people's struggle. i understand the empathy, but we have a unique chance to help those people fix their own country, whereas the natives were just shuffled into leftover spaces in reservations. with open arms we could accept the 1 in 100 people that make it here for asylum that are suffering, and it would do fuckall to fix where they came from.

i can see the argument that if left to exist without outside interference that most of south america would be living a fairly happy lifestyle today akin to the Maya leftovers given the decline of the Aztec empire at the time of Spanish discovery of the continent. they'd be happy little potato farmers sheering alpaca and building grass bridges.

but i cant logically allow for the chance that over 300+ years they'd ever in any universe be allowed to sit on such a stockpile of natural resources and left alone, so such thoughts are fruitless. even if we allowed in a hypothetical for them to exist without interference, today we'd still have a massive economy that would encourage people to exploit their own, as we're seeing today in those countries. aka, they'd tear themselves apart just to try and keep up with the joneses.

Well this one is a doozy. Even by Betopuppy standards.

You realize that none of "us" did anything like "this" and we can't go back in "time" and fix what happened to "your people".

I award you no points, and may god have mercy on your soul. These "immigrants" can go to any country they "please". They choose to come here because people like"you" push for our country to "pay" for their existence.

Come here legally, and we'll all live happily ever after in the greatest country in all the lands.

You better believe someone would have figured out they were sitting on an unfathomable amount of resources and monetized it. Jed fucking Clampett did it, and there has to be a south american equivalent of Jed fucking Clampett.

LOL the old hunting turns into oil fortune story. classic!

by the time we showed up in south america they already knew what a wonder rubber was and how efficient a diet is on many of their starch heavy fruits. we basically just offered cash for them to pick it for us. 50 years later they burned the forest down like Alfred in batman and had 100x of each tree growing in droves. we of course handed them the gas and matches but they're natives, they could have started the fire with just a few sticks or something.

on topic:

this is what entitlement looks like, posting about the worst of capitalism and police brutality, likely the grandson or great grandson of a sharecropper that could get hung without a trial.
