thats my point: the countries I mentioned, and which make up a significant portion of this little top10 list, are in between the american model and the western european model. if anything, the list shows that a country can have policies significantly to the right of sweden and still have a high international reputation (or economic success for that matter).

No, they are heavily regulated free markets with crippling high taxes. Imagine how good they would be if they werent dumb socialists too.

maybe by uneducated, come-to-life caricatures of redneck america, but not by the american public at large. do you really think a majority of americans considers australia or canada to be "socialist"?
although I have to say... the fact that you mistake those caricatures of the ignorant, know-nothing american for the typical or average american is really telling.
