I don't understand why so many people on the republican side hate Paul. Even if we were to take the opinions of our forum republicans, many detest him and I don't really understand why. I guess I'm not the average republican but I think Rand Paul is extremely intelligent and in my opinion would make a great president.
Make a great president? Too much of a rookie still. The president is somebody who should be consistence in message no matter where he goes, he must be consistent. Rand Paul's message is contingent on whatever crowd he is facing which results in him saying incredibly stupid things about social problems like the riots in Ferguson were caused by taxes. That is akin to when Pat Robertson said 9/11 happened in America because we were so tolerant on homosexuals.
I don't know, he needs some time to learn the ropes. He is a national senator already and that is a staggering achievement for somebody his age and at his point in his career. That means quite a lot already. I think putting all these amateurs up for election kind of cheapened the process altogether. In the democratic party you have two veteran leaders squaring off for a nomination, both with decades-long proven track records of competent and effective leadership and even some major problems were handled along the way. Between Clinton and Sanders you have over 50 years of leadership and serious governing. You can go to Burlington and see what Senator Bernie Sanders has been doing in terms of leadership since the 1970s, and that is run a non-corrupt, transparent government in Burlington, and then get promoted by a relatively (95%) white middle class conservative base to congressman and then to senator. Senator Clinton is just a distinguished.
Then you have Ted Cruz, and you have Rand Paul, and you have Marco Rubio, and other relative newbies, that people are talking about being serious contenders, it is no wonder somebody like Donald Trump thinks he can walk into the fray and just toss these little cubs around...because face it, none of these guys are a Barack Obama....not even close. Thank god somebody who is as powerful as an individual as Trump came into the fray to at least give the race some credibility.
