How would having a gun have helped you in this scenario? You show up to your child's school, there's active shooting occurring. When you try to enter to save your child, armed and armored police, carrying the full authority of the government prevent you from acting. Sure, you could probably shoot an officer. But will you get to your kid when the other 17 officers shoot back? Further, let's just say you snuck past the line of police, you even killed the shooter. Great! Are you aware that because you entered a public K-12 school with a firearm, you're now a federal felon, and will have your right to own firearms removed from you, and end up in a concrete and steel cage, while your child gets to be raised in a fatherless home?
Several of the parents were armed. They could do nothing, precisely because the police, like an armed gang screening the actions of a new initiate, actively and violently prevented interference.
This is the same school I went to.
I know how to get there and get in unseen.
If that was my little nieces and nephews in there,
I would have saved them or died trying.
Somethings are more important than what laws/rules say you can or can't do.
It is better to ask forgiveness than permission.
