Eh, words do nothing to me. My heart stopped beating December 2020 for a minute. Part of me died as I went into shock. What bothers me is trying to go to work and do my job in mechanical science and having to sit through pointless meetings and worry about offending the wrong psycho who’s gonna throw a fit because I said “hey guys” instead of “hey persons” acting like I’m the weird one. It’s one massive pile of the same easily goaded people desperate for attention and validation. Tomorrow it’ll be some other reason why as societal outliers, they’re right and everyone else is wrong and a hater and oppressive. Then the next one. Then the next.

Weird fear. You might have an anxiety disorder. This has never happened to you and it is a pretty irrational fear. I can say it has never happened to you with confidence or you would have mentioned it in this post as something you hate happening and not some weird abstract fear that you have. You can just use 'dude' as a universal pronoun at work if you want. But address that anxiety, because fearful anxious middle aged males are the hardest people to treat and you have to nip that shit. There is no pill for it and they think you're holding out or something.

But the people who murdered people in Salem in Witch Burnings were more like the anti-CRT people rejecting all the math books in Florida right now than the people insisting on being called the right name.



I say it to middle aged women often. It probably helps if you're likable tho. I will just apologize on the spot and not feel slighted or ego bruised if someone doesn't want to be called dude or whatever. After 20 intense hospital social worky phone calls you are accidently calling women sir and men maam your brain is so fried. As long as you're doing your best people are cool usually, and if they're not cool then they're miserable people so KEEP IT MOVING Boundaries are important. People so upset about this are the fuck your feelings they don't end at my rights people so they need to chill out a bit they're being super sensitive and getting mad at people to acting similarly. I think this lack of overall empathy is rooted in a lack of self-empathy to a degree.

I’ve literally had 2 meetings around social justice within a year. I’ve had to take corporate training courses online that spout “white male” privilege. I’ve had engineers stop, apologize, and say “sorry I can’t say that anymore”. People who make $100k a year and are experts in their fields. Yes it does. You haven’t lived my life. When you need to stop working on a multimillion dollar construction project for a 30 minute Skype lecture about black slaves in the 1800s and 1900s with no questions, feedback, or context, you tell me it’s not real. I’ve had to do that. So while I’m trying to focus on the electrical system for enough juice to melt a tank to be safely plotted, installed, tested, you tell me how someone’s inability to get laid is somehow, my fault or problem?

Two whole meetings? Lol. Again, you're complaining about people being too sensitive but you can't handle two trainings to help you be better employees and improve overall customer service more than likely to keep 100k annual jobs? ROFL

That isn't a problem man, that is opportunity for people to have those jobs who want to work there. I see nothing wrong with those people leaving to be completely honest, because you want guys and gals who can stick it out and not get triggered and leave during a couple meetings on diversity.

God damn. I'm a hospital social worker and I have to do hundreds of hours of training on all sorts of weird shit and asked to do trainings for weirder shit because of my degree and you just stick it out. How did those guys ever make it through college lol. Definitely not graduate level dudes no way.

After doing group therapy I learned I can do absolutely ANYTHING for one hour, and stretch that maxim into multiple hours.

I hate meetings 100%. I'm the guy in the room pointing out how much an hour of time for everyone in the room costs. But I would never quit my job over excessive meetings, I would just figure out how many I had to go to and not face discipline and hit the minimum for that. Its 75% where I work and you can even do them on Zoom which doesn't count lol, you can turn your camera off and do other things.

Walk away from $100k/annual in this shitty economy god damn that's privilege. My wife would kill me if I quit my job because "i just couldn't take" diversity trainings. Talk about hubris.

OK well when you drive on a bridge and it collapses because a diversity hire made the wrong decision don't come crying. When airplanes can't fly because the maintenance staff all quit don't come crying. When Disney shuts down their parks because no one wants to deal with the obnoxious zealots, don't come crying. Having the skills to perform $100k isn't a privilege, its the result of years of education, discipline, and planning with science and not how a bunch of teenagers and celebrities moan on twitter.

The ones getting triggered, are the ones demanding all the meetings. You don't the see the irony. I'ma go play D2 good luck.

I don't think that's what he's getting at so I'll throw my 2 cents in.

I think he means the work force suffers when hiring decisions are made to satisfy a politically driven ideology. Which could create communication issues IF the person hired is far outside the essence of the team they join OR brings with them the same ideology which distracts from the task at hand (ie building bridges, maintaining planes...).

Team cohesion and mastery cannot be dwarfed by inclusivity for maximal output.
