Correct, again both can be looked at reductively and still be fully described, and when one looks at the molecular level of the cells in question the molecules are as non-living as the ones any other physical system.

A tad weird, but understandable. Living things are delicate and there is a sort of paternal feeling one gets when caring for one, at least for me. I still hope you value your pets over your plants :)

Well my cats have been attacking my house trees. I actually had to use electric tape to attempt to repair a couple large leafs and seal a major artery. Poor plant was bleeding white liquid.

Aw :(

The key difference, in my view, is that cats are conscious and plants (probably) aren't. And the way I see it, consciousness is exclusively the only thing that has any importance/significance/meaning/value in the world. In a way, it's the only thing that really exists.

his perspective is correct and rational.
as a Christian have to admit that during these centuries we live in ignorance of darkness imposed by fundamentalist denominations.
with the advent of the Christian spiritist doctrine codified by Allan Kardec, the understanding of God's justice has become more rational and acceptable.

I particularly liked the part of Kardec's book where he interviews the spirits of dead people. Nothing more rational than that.

Only because that is what you personally value, because value is subjective and not inherent in the material universe.

You even agreed with me in your very post! If value is subjective then it requires a subject!

I think for something to even be an object it requires a consciousness to perceive it, nullify the rest of atomic existence from it if you will. It takes a conscious act of differentiation, a very creative act.

Yes so this is why I stated that consciousness is the fundamental requirement for value, by consciousness I am referring to subjective experience.

If I am understanding you correctly.

Yep. Even the existence of that value is questionable :p
