It is. You just elected a really incompetent guy :(

4 years to "evolve" on one of the most stereotypically liberal positions. Not exactly hard left.

Only 4 years to decide that God's word is not as important as popular politics. I'm surprised it took him that long.

Exactly.... If he were a hard liberal he would have supported it from the get go. Opportunist describes him better than hard liberal.

Social policies aren't really worth fighting for though. Only the knuckle-draggers vote on social policy alone. He's very liberal when it comes to public policy. He's pro-universal healthcare (just couldn't get it done). Pro-minimum wage raising (again, a failure). Very pro-gun control (failed here again). The list goes on, but if you look at his stance on issues, it'd be described as very liberal.

Tell that to the Republicans.... and you can't just ignore 1/3rd of their positions when making an evaluation.

He also surged troops and made plans to stay, only to get kicked out by the country we had them in.
He kept almost all of Bush's cabinet and advisors.
Expanded protection of pharmaceutical companies.

I'm not saying he's hard right or anything, but the most left you can reasonably describe him is towards the center even taking America's middle as the center.

I attiubute his failure to the fact that he may talk out of the left side of his mouth, but he actually leans to the right.

When he really wants to get stuff done , he can.

Yep. Fake left, go right. He can talk a big game, but he doesn't actually fight for much he says he wants. He just gives the far-right enough ammunition to keep calling him a socialist.

I prefer the terms corporatist, fascist, statist or interventionist, but socialist gets the point across too even if its not technically as accurate.

It's not accurate at all though, I agree with corporatist, pretty much everybody is statist and interventionist so those are a pretty useless description.

Fascist isn't really accurate since we aren't getting imprisoned for defying him, unless you think a hard Republican targeting tea party groups is Obama's actions.
