I'm not saying how they retaliated is right, but what in the actual hell are they supposed to do? just sit there and slowly watch their women and children get forced out of their homes, food and water stolen so they starve to death? in their own country?

I don't pretend to know what exactly to do; however, surely it must not be controversial to suggest that there are other options between what happened over the past couple days and sitting idly.

Even if one looked at it from a purely practical standpoint, it makes questionable sense to antagonize a country/power that is significantly more powerful than you via invading and slaughtering/capturing civilians.

if you dont fight the superpower opressors, your only option is to slowly get ethically cleansed.

I dont think the retaliation is unwarranted from the palestinians. It's the WRONG way to do it, but what options are being left for them?

do we really think, as a society that is advanced enough to create nuclear power, that israel is innocent? that israel isn't terrorizing these people who were peaceful and innocent for years, until they were pushed to the point of needing to defend themselves?

It's terrible that people of israel were attacked, it's terrible that israeli children have to fear the idea of being attacked. but it is an absolute REALITY that everything israeli civilians are afraid of, is exactly what israel is doing to the children and women of palestine.

I don't think that Israel is innocent, but I do distinguish between Israeli people/citizens, the IDF, and the Israeli political machine at large. While I can, to the best of one's ability, imagine the desperation that Palestinians feel given my limited knowledge of their situation, one has to question whether the tactics used are ethical, practical, and to the benefit of Palestine. To your example, while I can understand that you'd be defensive about your own family (as all of us would be, I imagine), I also imagine that you'd be as practical as possible about it.

It's like going up against that level 99 asshole in D2 with your level 25 character that's just trying to get through Act 5. You can go out and try and fight them, and feel justified because they've been an asshole to you, but you're going to get absolutely wrecked.

I am in agreement, the israeli civilians as a whole, did not commit the atrocities that their military is committing, aside from their unwavering support. At the end of the day, the leaders of Israel and the leaders of Hamas are not religious people trying to do the best for their people. They are bloodthirsty demons trying to exact revenge.

this is not just "fighting back" though. those are cowardly terrorist attacks targeting, murdering, and abducting civilians. no one should celebrate that.

yes, israel has also inflicted massive injustices and outright terror upon palestinians for decades, but two evils don't magically cancel each other out. it's always the weakest and most innocent that suffer the most, and it really doesn't matter which group they belong to, their suffering is never a good thing. so whether you can understand where they are coming from or not, they are still terrorists murdering innocent people.
