the standards the Trump administration applies to Iran are justified, as is their decision to no longer give a flying fuck for those UN bodies which have indeed become politicized and ineffective. but this justified muscular stance is counteracted by the soft line approach towards the Saudis. the bottom line is that the Trump administration does not really believe in those standards, they are just an excuse to punish other nations subject to Trump's whim.
