about the comparison between AOC and the classical positions of social democracy in europe:

- she is a self-proclaimed socialist. the "Democratic Socialists of America", which she is a part of, would ultimately want to end private property and nationalize vast parts of the economy.
- AOC seems to support a single-payer healthcare system, like most left-leaning democrats, but the DSA, which she is part of, utlimately want to nationalize hospitals, providers and the entire healthcare system. this is also the reason why her healthcare proposals are so extraordinarily expensive, even compared to the plans of other left-leaning democrats.

by contrast, social democrats in europe support a strong welfare state which helps the weak within a capitalistic system. the distinction between "socialism" and "social democracy" is tough for the uninformed, but actually quite easy to boil down:

- in socialism, there is no private property, and the government controls and runs everything. in socialism, everyone is dependent on the state, and this situation is intentional/by construction.
- social democracy operates within a capitalist system and wants the state to have a sizable and active role in supporting the poor and the weak. the end goal of social democracy is that everyone is empowered to take care of himself and his family and eventually does not depend on the state anymore.



further positions which distinguish AOC from successful european flavors of social democracy:

- AOC supports a "universal jobs guarantee", which is textbook socialism. no country in western europe has ever implemented anything like that, even those which were ruled by the social democrats for decades. needless to say that AOC has no idea or plan whatsoever on how to finance such a jobs program.
- AOC wants to abolish ICE and provide easy and quick pathways to citizenship for every undocumented immigrant. classical social democrats in europe never supported shit like that. some of them started taking this position as well in recent years, and the result is that they are on the brink of extinction in many countries (e.g. the Netherlands or France, but also struggling a ton in Germany).
- AOC is a racist against whites and a misandrist.

Just saying that I only know a handful of people who could afford immediately move to DC.

How much would you need in savings to do that? Maybe 3-5k dollars? Everyone who's not a total failure at what he/she does should have saved up a sum like this by the age of 29.
