Quite the trip. From the 1800's to the modern age.

I'll add some pictures are of traumatic events, so be warned.

Enjoyed that collage, some of those are amazing. I'm deeply sorrowful to have been born tragically with no artistic abilities.

Great shots, but so much horror.

It's the human condition, right?

Nanking massacre, Belgian Congo, the World Wars, all the atrocities. They're all made by humans, all of them. We can be an exceptionally cruel species.

The one of the girl standing next to the burned husk of her mother, after Fat Man was dropped on Nagasaki... Haunting.

Also the picture where Nazi soldiers were shown the true nature of the camps. Many of them look devastated.

@Hatemonkey: Housemate of mine is currently reading Congo, Een Geschiedenis by David van Reybrouck. She's recommending it. Have you read it?

That's what's so sad.

Eh, in a way it's nice too. We are capable of such tragedy but in daily life it happens so rarely, and luckily wars and such atrocities have decreased in frequency the last few decades. Let's just hope the trend will continue :)

And the galleries could have contained only positive moments too, but those seem to be less defining of our history. I think only a few of those can compete with the likes of the World Wars or 9/11, for example. Maybe the moon landing, or the discovery of DNA.

So tell me, what is that supposed to mean as a political picture?
