Let's see:
- Universal healthcare
- Tuition-free (or at least more affordable) education
- Hard-line on environmental issues (work towards 100% renewable)
- Israeli-Palestine conflict, condemning Israel when they perform crimes against humanity (controversial but less controversial in Europe)

The only one that might not be mainstream popular in Europe is her immigration stance. Most people here are weary of immigration.

You got the first part answered.

What I find absolutely surreal about this is that he could replace every "she" with "he" and he could be talking about Trump.

Yup. and you bet your bottom dollar that having no qualifications was a BIG problem in 2016 for Fender. now it's virtue. ha!

Don't be so obtuse.

Many countries in Europe are successfull with low or non-existing tuitions, higher renewable power rates, universal/single payer healthcare plans, and many EU countries have tougher positions on Israel's treatment of Palestine. None of that should be surprising or uncommon knowledge.

still not applicable to the US directly, tho. an influx in lower income people has caused many of the systems across Europe to look more dicey today than 10 years ago. and we're far more economically diverse than you are, or even will by with pessimistic forecasts.

AOC's stances are for sure not shocking to Euro's, but even a Euro should be surprised she'd be so bold as to suggest they can be directly implemented in the US right away. as AOC has done.

very true, but well, we can't possibly hold the most powerful man in the country to the same standard as a 'random congresswoman'...
he probably would just have claimed that he has the same reservations about trump (just somehow never brings them up).

who said it's virtue? you're strawmanning hard (again). you asked me what i thought made her 'qualified', and i listed a couple of points that came to my mind (none of which apply to trump btw). you're obviously free to disagree, but implying that anyone suggested it was virtuous to be unqualified is blatantly dishonest.

specific question:

do you think people should have unvirtuous qualifications for congresspeople?

if not, what's the distinction?

if someone asked: what qualifications do you have to be a pornstar?

the answers would be unvirtuous qualifications.

but for a member of the legislature, i'd hope their qualifications are all virtuous. virtue is highly subjective, but all of the positives to govern i can think of are bare minimum arguably virtuous.

how about we stop dipping and diving tho. her healhtcare plan costs 2x the budget, and she has zero clue how to pay for it, according to her. Thoughts? and how does this affect her virtuous or otherwise nature.

I know it's not directly applicable to the US. I was just explaining why her positions look way less radical from our perspective. That was the argument I made that djman had a problem with. Of course direct implementation is ridiculous, but I don't think she thinks that's in the cards. She's not there to be a lawmaker, she's there to stir shit up. Pave the path for more progressive policy to be more mainstream. She's a more testimonial politician, preferring to adhere to principles instead of compromise.

Our social systems are actually fairly secure, even though many have had to tighten the belt. Population ageing (esp the babyboom generation) is a far bigger cause of these cuts to the social system than low-income immigrants. Healthcare and pension payments are increasing far more than 'handouts'. And we do want our elderly to live happily when they get older :)

i agree with your perspective on AOC, i think she knows that her plans aren't realistic, and is just a shit stirrer. however, fender said she's honest and that she has been consistent in fighting for healthcare. but if she knew all along it was a moonshot, that makes her dishonest. i dont think shes an idiot, so i always thought she was in part dishonest.
