Tbh there are affordable places to live for someone like her in the DC area. They just tend to be crappy area with more crime and shittier traffic.

why wouldnt she want to live in such a quarter? doesnt she claim to be the spokesperson for the exact kind of people who live in such areas?

Most of the politicians and government workers don't actually live in DC. They live in the surrounding counties of Maryland and Virginia, where many of the nation's richest counties are. It's been a long-standing issue that many people have had for a while with the government: they're really good at taking care of themselves. During the last recession, these areas were relatively untouched compared to the rest of the country.

That said, though, not everywhere in the DC metro region is expensive as hell. She just doesn't want to live in an apartment next to the coloreds, I guess.

she can live further out in VA or MD and take public transport like most of the citizenry does for their daily commute to and from work. but the citizenry are plebs sooo yeah

heck i dont support Biden or Kaine but they did/do some serious commutes while in the Senate. I think Kaine lives in Richmond and drives to Fredricksburg to take the VRE when he commutes from home to DC. Biden commuted from freaking Delaware so his kids wouldnt be displaced after their mother passed away.

Taxes and property values are a problem in this area, though. It's one of the most hostile regions in the US for young, first-time home buyers. Hell even if you do buy a house, the property taxes are a bitch. I live in one of the bluest states in the US and the taxes, as well other things like healthcare premiums, just keep going up, up and away.

Admittedly even a loan as low as 1 month's rent is hard to get when your credit history for employment is part time at a bar and nothing else.

Admittedly, someone who is not even qualified for a loan as low as 1 month's rent might also not be qualified to make laws and decide on the future course of the country.
