and does tolkien address the skin colour of elves, does he insist they are all white? that's a genuine question, i'm not that into fantasy and lotr.
because if he does i think it's kind of stupid to have dark skinned elves. ofc it wouldn't be 'ruining' the movie, that's just typical right wing alarmism, but also probably not the right place to tackle the still important diversity issue...

The elves are white the dark elves are dark. There aren't really any dark elves IN the LOTR.

There also aren't any white elves in LOTR, yet here we are with a movie having white elves.

elves are figuratively representing wisdom, innocence and purity - traits which traditionally are associated with the color white, irrespective of race. note how most of their attire in most fantasy films is white and/or very bright. elves having a white skin is just thematically/aesthetically fitting.

and with regards to LOTR: it is no secret that the story is an allegory on the world war(s), and thus it is pretty safe to assume that tolkien had a european, white world in mind when writing the novel.

The truth is in the eye of the beholder, you can read the books with your own imagination of how the fantasy creatures looked. You seeing this as fitting to relate to white skin color, is a cultural reminder of perceiving Aryans to be superior. If Tolkien thought the same, predating Hitler, is not likely. Also because the difference between races were not defined by skin color, but by physical treats like: tall/slim/pointy ears, etc.
