many of the immigrants aren't mexican, or are from cartel infested areas. Honduras and Venezualans are fairly common from what i read.

but this whole "poor migrants should improve their own country" is just "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" talk with a new hat. how does someone who makes 20 cents a day, saves up for a decade to get the coyote's fee, and has to leave children and family behind to get to america to make more money to send home to their family they left, "improve their country"? these are poor uneducated manual laborers in a poor area economically. obviously there are some ways they can improve some things, but to present it as an alternative to individuals migrating? that's dumb as hell. and to be honest sneaking into the US and sending back money with Western Union is likely a better strategy financially than whatever you're about to respond with.

oh, i am well aware that sneaking into the US is the much more sensible strategy for the individual mexican. but this is an argument for why the mexican worker would want to illegally immigrate into the united states - not an argument for why the american society should allow this to happen.

poverty migration is a net drain on society. the immigration of highly qualified workers is what we're really beneftitting from, is the type of immigration that typically is "culturally enriching".

failing newyork times lies again, baiting hogg into embarasing himself

$52,000 curtains for Nikki Haley's office were bought by Obama's State Department, not Trump's

The New York Times wrote about the pricey window treatment on Thursday, and while it appeared to pin the blame on the Trump administration, it said in the middle of the story that the purchase was made a few years back.

You seem to have moved the goal posts. first you said they should improve where they come from, now you're saying they're not improving where they're headed to. im confused, please elaborate.

An earlier version of this article and headline created an unfair impression about who was responsible for the purchase in question. While Nikki R. Haley is the current ambassador to the United Nations, the decision on leasing the ambassador’s residence and purchasing the curtains was made during the Obama administration, according to current and former officials. The article should not have focused on Ms. Haley, nor should a picture of her have been used. The article and headline have now been edited to reflect those concerns, and the picture has been removed.

couple things

1. Shit reporting, they should get called out and they got shamed
2. This is most important. They acknowledged it owned it, changed it

2 is important because the fake news you crop dust around here does not do that. It puts out false, unfair, and/or inaccurate stories and never fixes them or admits it.

That's fake news this was shit reporting in my opinion

and I'm glad Haley had her name cleared

thats not a contradiction. they should try to improve their own country. but as long as it is ensured that they stay in their own country, the question whether these efforts are successful or a failure doesnt affect us.
(well, technically it does, indirectly, since mexico is also a market with lots of consumers... but with secured borders, the impact of the progress, stagnation or regression of the southern neighbor(s) on us is several orders of magnitude smaller than with wide open borders.)
