followup: Synagogue vandal identified as James Polite, a gay black man aged 26. Polite attended historically jewish Brandeis after a recommendation by the Democratic politician he interned for, Christine C. Quinn. He has been engaged in plenty of democratic campaigning and political activism.

Or in other words: false fucking flag.

Naw it was a few days ago, 'someone' vandalized a new york synagogue with the words of the pittsburgh mass shooter;

“Last night, we were ready to generate stories and conversations and turn them into action,” Glazer said. “We had beautiful, bright people ready to canvas ― knock on doors for the local elections ― and help candidates who stand up for human rights win. Then, the Generator community experienced, together, how white supremacy, anti-Semitism and racism silences human rights politics and halts progress. But they won’t stop us from communicating, canvassing, and voting. We will continue to learn, organize, and act and make this country as safe for as many people as possible.”

oops turns out the hoax was done by a gay black democratic political canvasser and campaign volunteer who attended a jewish university.

Democrats received over 11 million more votes in Senate races in 2016. That has a lot to do with the states that held elections (Democrats had elections in California, New York, Illinois) but also consider the fact that the current 51 Republican Senators represent 143 million people and the current 49 Democratic Senators represent 182 million (2.8 million vs 3.7 million per Senator, a ~25% mismatch).

I agree the Democratic party is losing touch, but they are also working against a built-in advantage for Republicans in the Senate. But I can't complain too much, it's the way the founders drew it up, and it's a system that has worked well for the country overall.

As far as the House, yeah the Democrats have fucked that up. But maybe they'll take it back in the coming days.

Hmm. How could less Senators represent MORE people?

/e I mean considering the Senate is made up of 2 Senators per... STATE. Senators don't represent people, they represent states.

No they don't. They represent the states themselves. the House represents the people IN the states.

How does one represent a state and not the people when they are directly elected by the people?

What is a state if not its people?
