my wife is huge into ayurveda and my good friend is going to school to become a practitioner. my main hesitation comes from just hearing about it so damn often with very little interest to start off, but there are a lot of wonderful concepts.
Since I'm going to a D.O. school I have to spend a significant amount of time learning about osteopathic manipulation. It's kind of on the same line as ayurveda, at least from a cursory googling. It's got like 10% legitimacy and 90% bullshit. Which is funny because almost all of the 10% legitimate part we learn in a separate class called Principles of Clinical Medicine, which would also be taught in a M.D. school.
It's immediately apparent that the teachers, who are strictly OMM practicing physicians, are on-edge about the lack of resource into its effectiveness. They like to tout titles of papers but are really hesitant to get into details like sample size and averages.
