It should not matter what his intentions were when he got that gun. The only thing that matters is whether he committed any crimes.

the kid had a gun he shouldnt have, at a place he shouldnt have been, which caused him accidentally or not to kill 2 people, laws exist for a reason even though some of you relish the thought of a white person gunning down your boogeymans

The way I see it, it's pretty straightforward. Did the kid commit any crimes? If he didn't, then it shouldn't matter for what purposes he obtained that gun.

It is not a crime to think about committing a crime. I sometimes think about killing people but the cops don't arrest me for this.
