They handled the case with extreme and unusual sloppiness. Perhaps this is indeed how they treat every important/well-connected person, but then it's still wrong. In the final week of the election, he did not compensate for right-wing nutters, he attempted to compensate for the extreme and unjustified slack his agency had cut for Hillary earlier that year.
