If people are going to immigrate and live here, they should have the courtesy of being required to learn the common language. If they wind up in an ER and are unable to communicate or are in a situation that requires accurate communication, then they should be able to do it. I literally have no fucking clue why this is such a "lolz" or "boomer" concept. It actually makes me quite sad to see how many "enlightened" folk of today are opposed to this.

Do yourself a favor, Beowulf. Move to another country and expect the natives to conform to your language. See how that works out for you.

Hmm, no, I know you think that's a cute "gotcha!" response, but it's not.

It's more like this. If you're going to immigrate to our society, learn our laws, customs, and way of life, then at least be linguistically capable to function. Why does this concept trigger a REEEEEEEesponse from somebody like you? It's what all, ALL LEGAL immigrants endure. They go through English courses and usually take pride in learning the common language. It's lazy fucks who believe "When in Rome, do what the fuck you want and call the natives racist" that subscribe to your line of think.

I remember ordering food from a local restaurant and the girl working the counter struggled to understand my order. I live in PG County, MD, one of the so-called "sanctuary" areas in Maryland and one of the bluest counties in the entire US. Why is this girl working and living here and is barely capable of understanding basic English? What happens if she ends up in a situation where she needs to effectively communicate?

Again, why is this such a "boomer" or controversial concept? What the fuck happened to common sense? Or should we all just not give a fuck and let our country go to whomever shows up for it?
