You don't see anything wrong with the NYT routinely publishing leaked intelligence that is actively harming world security, without any objective but getting a bigger scoop?
Its not some grand crusade of transparency or whistleblowing. And the Intel services made specific requests they don't do this just a day earlier

Greater Manchester Police hope to resume normal intelligence relationships - a two-way flow of information - soon but is currently "furious", the BBC understands.
Its chief constable Ian Hopkins said the recent leak had caused "much distress for families that are already suffering terribly with their loss.".
The force - which is leading the investigation on the ground - gives its information to National Counter-Terrorism, which then shares it across government and - because of the Five Eyes intelligence sharing agreement - with the US, Australia, Canada and New Zealand.


All other US-UK intelligence is still being shared, while five terrorist plots have been disrupted in the UK since the 22 March Westminster attack, the BBC has learned.
Home Secretary Amber Rudd has said she is "confident" the leaks will now end, after having voiced her irritation following the leak of the attacker's name.
However, the pictures of debris - which appear to show bloodstained fragments from the bomb and the backpack used to conceal it - were subsequently leaked to the New York Times, prompting an angry response from within Whitehall and from UK police chiefs.


so it appears this info was shared across multiple governments and their ICs, and only ours managed to leak it to a tabloid. lovely stuff :wacko:

Yes, why don't we trust the man praising dictators and telling them our military deployments on a whim? He's certainly not repeatedly leaked remarkably sensitive data for no apparent reason.

The Trump admin leaked this too as part of their campaign to discredit the USIC. Pretty easy to see through this ruse, really.

How would the U.S. IC benefit from this leak? This stinks to the high heavens, and it is very convenient for a presidential administration that has been damaged by leaks. If you think this leak came from the same faction that is leaking info on Trump and Russia, then I have an island to sell you.


Once you've created the yellow journalism climate, its actually quite self sustaining. Once people believe what you want them to believe, human psychology kicks in. Tribalism kicks in. Petty defensive mechanisms kick in
You can post articles with headlines debunked by the content- CNN running its story on Sessions this week- you can post things which don't hold up to a cursory google check- WaPo's story about the Pope giving Trump his climate change pamphlet
When it becomes Us vs Them, the "Us" can do anything.


I think you're wrong on one count though: Is not turning liberals away. You overestimate humans.
Yellow journalism is effective.

Read 3 lines and I'll already tell you they're drawing conclusions the study may have siggested, but didnt prove. It's easy to tell when the media is spinning science into an emotional story and you fell for it

When Jon Stewart says "The media is manipulative and sensationalistic, stoking hate and fear to drive an agenda" its embraced and liberals tout their reason and levelheadness. Everyone else is brainwashed! We must be rational and objective
When Colbert says Trump is a treasonous russian cock holster who will murder poor people and start nuclear war and ban abortion, its based on stories like "Jeff Sessions didn't disclose meeting russians on forms that didn't require him to disclose such meetings"

My brother's dead as shit. I don't think it would bother me at all if he was brought up in a national conspiracy and discussed on television. So long as his reputation isn't besmirched.

I have it from anonymous sources that the Rich family was told to stay quiet, or they'd have to plan a few more funerals.
