A lot of the people that vote leave have some fantasy about how strong Britain is, this isn't the British empire anymore. Old white ppl voting leave in huge proportions but the 16 and 17 year olds can't vote over their future.

TIL Leicester is 48.9% old white people.

Doesn't matter what alliance, union or federation you're talking about, some states are going to be takers and others givers.

Someone needed to post this.

The whole point of the EU is that it's bigger than the sum of its parts. The fact that countries like the UK, France, Germany and the Netherlands contribute greatly to countries like Greece, Poland, Portugal and Spain is because they're aware of the fact that this is compensated by what they're gaining from the economy boost. Additionally, these are investments. By boosting countries like Poland, they're building on their own futures too.

And that is something a lot of uneducated people will never be able to appreciate. Which is exactly why a decision like this needs to be made by politicians, not through referendums.

well, you correctly pointed it out before: emotional arguments, appeals to fear and national pride prevailed over reason, logic and foresight. it shouldn't come as a surprise that a certain mr. trump is over the moon and congratulating your new leaders to this glorious victory.
i am really sorry for those who did not just take the easy way out, giving in to irrational fears and convenient foreign scapegoats - i already mentioned before that the EU makes for a great one with its bloated bureaucracy and its countless problems that indeed aren't britain made, i'm sure it didn't take much to convince simpler people...

however, i'm still celebrating the day as the situation was highly unsatisfactory and simply unfair towards other donor nations working their asses off to find acceptable solutions for everyone and trying to be positive role models for our struggling members. i mean, it's not like we didn't have any success stories, just look at ireland for example...

Or look at how much Poland was growing until the day its conservative anti-EU government took office.

It's not "donor" nations, it's "investor" nations.

Next up: UK leaves the EU, their NSA needs to replace all those immigrant employees who can no longer stay, and British economy goes to shit.
...

1. eu membership is not the key to eu members staying in britain, other agreements let them to
2. yes, britain can terminate those agreements as well (with negotiations)

but there are plenty other concerns

london will have to hand it's hard worked for rank as number one financial centre hand back to new york
and the rank of number one financial centre in europe will go to paris or frankfurt

wait for the next scottish referendum on independence

interestingly many of those areas most benefiting from eu membership voted 'leave'
but that happens when people believe the lies of boris johnson
if american voters are as gullible as the british ones, there will be president trump

And Northern Ireland and Gibraltar.

Only England (very clearly) and Wales (a bit less clearly) were in favor of the Brexit at all.
