Could it be that they were brought up in a prudish environment?

...from everything I know about where they were raised , no , not even close .

I'm actually interested in what women say about genderless bathrooms.  I have a strong feeling that most women do not want to be in the same bathroom as men.

As to the guys who support genderless bathrooms...why the fuck would you want less urinals in your bathroom?

I've yet to see a legitimate reason to have genderless bathrooms.  Why change something that's not broken?

I know it's a godless, heathen place, but the hall I lived in at Harvard one year had unisex bathrooms (including showers--individual stalls). The only person that complained was actually a guy, so they turned one bathroom into men only. Fun fact--shared a bathroom with Soledad O'Brien.

Same sex bathrooms don't have to be a big deal. Now I do realize asking everyone to behave like Harvard students is a bit much--yes, yes, air of superiority and all that--but CU students manage to do it, too. CU has had unisex bathrooms for years with no problem. As a parent, I accompany my kids any time I'm in doubt about the situation. When my daughter was littler, I used to take her into the men's room all the time if we were out alone.

Wouldn't you take the same precaution in a regular bathroom?

...you really need to read the thread before you start with the questions because I have stated at least 3 times I NEVER let any child of mine go into ANY public bathroom without me or their mother going in with them .

...I am going to type slowly so you understand .

I would not take my child into a unisex bathroom unless it was unavoidable and only after I had checked it out before they went in .

I'm with you there, buddy. I see that I'm a little further along in my argument than you are so I will type slowly for you as well...

If we are to create standards to protect our children from sex offenders in the restroom we must use more effective measures than separating it out by gender. Single occupancy with a lock and bolt and you (the parent) standing outside to make sure no male enters.

I replied. I've stated that there's nothing inherently wrong with unisex bathrooms. I'm not necessarily advocating that they be implemented immediately.

Why is it abhorrent? What is it about the concept of a unisex bathroom that is abhorrent? Just answer that question. You can fill the post with trolls of all sizes, but answer the question directly, please.

i dont understand why unisex bathrooms are better? whats wrong with privacy between the sexes?

and to change things because it impacts one set of ppl isnt right, by your logic i'm guessing you want extra sinks and toilets lower to the floor for midgets? its just not gonna happen.

Sorry, you are correct. Thank you for your response. One problem is that the number of urinals would decrease. I really don't want that to happen.

Wouldn't those same kids be exposed to that kind of thing anyway with such irresponsible parents?  I mean even 13 years ago there were kids in kindergarten talking about sex. (when I was in kindergarten)  My parents were responsible but some others in the class knew about sex before they got into elementary and I promise you it didn't come from a unisex bathroom.

First you criticize this point by claiming it's just "what ifs", then you use "what ifs" to back up your side. Also, are you advocating it's okay for pre-elementary age kids (<5 year old children) to be talking about sex as an argument for unisex bathrooms? Seriously? I cannot seriously believe you even would suggest such as a thing. It sounds more like you're okay with introducing kids towards sexual information and behavior, and that's why you're okay with unisex restrooms.

Let's be clear here, I don't take the liberal approach of safety means absolute safety. Steps toward various levels of safety are never 100%. The issue is when doing nothing ends up causing more issues than being pro-active.

I never said I liked the idea that they talked about it but I'm saying it happens already and is clearly not a result of unisex bathrooms so the idea that they might see a penis or vagina is a non-issue. Not only that but unisex bathrooms do not expose people to sex. I have never seen another man's penis in a men's restroom so even if you ignore that children are educated about sex very early it is still a non issue.

Please show me where I advocated for young children being exposed to sex.

I'm not using a what if I'm empirically stating that it is the way it is.

you just seem to be threatened by anything you weren't raised with. Your personal attacks in every post make it abundantly clear.
