What was the "shady activity" at the bottom of all this? At the end of the day, everything in the steele dossier was completely fabricated and made up, and all that story shows is how incredibly corrupt Hillary's campaign, the DNC and FBI all were. So we can forget about that whole line
So how about the Michael Flynn stuff? All that showed is that when Obama publicly breached the norms and precedents of a presidential transition by trying to sabotage his successors administration on every front possible, a true spite move on the way out, Trump was sending out his representatives to try to smooth things over with foreign countries that Obama was trying to provoke. Any pretense that Trump was breaching norms by undermining Obama's policies during the transition is ethically and politically justified as tit for tat deescalation to respond to Obama's move. And legally, there's no actual Logan Acts style law with any constitutional basis to assert a lame duck president's exclusive right to conduct foreign policy at the expense of the incoming president.

There was no "there" there. Trump had dick all to do with Russia, nobody was in any grand conniving plans. The closest anyone ever got to influencing them was basically the equivalent of a jehovah's witness showing up at Trump Tower to tell Jr about the glory of solving the magnitsky-adoption impasse under a false pretense, and that wasn't even on behalf of Russia, that was just American lobbyists who were true believers in the cause.
