They got a "thanks for your application but we are no longer trying to fill the position" letter because fuck that.

The former has never happened. I can't imagine someone having a Brett Kavanaugh meltdown at a job interview.

But I have had people apply to work for me and accusations started flying. As a good manager, despite whether or not the allegations were true, I declined the interview. Why? Doing so would prove disruptive to the workplace and ultimately harm the company and brand.
