Immigration isn't replacement because it's additive. If we deported you back to Europe and imported someone of a superior culture, THAT would be replacement. If you're worried about ratios, your grandkids will be long gone before it's truly noticeable. You're much more likely to witness these ratios in a particular neighborhood (in which case you can just move).

For most of our nation's history borders were not really enforced for the average person. You could just walk from Mexico to the U.S. and then you'd just kinda be a citizen if you wanted to be, and you stayed. Simply because records were not kept very stringently. However, most people went back after working because they aren't interested in permanent migration.

Our tight border policy has actually made it so those people who didn't have an interest in staying are forced to stay, because they no longer have the option to come back at some point to work again when they need it.

By making the crossing dangerous we've actually made it so more non-citizens cross our borders with the intention to stay forever, and the ones that do make it and stay get to be abused because they can be deported if they are reported.

The natural state of the world is for populations to flow between countries in both directions. This isn't replacement, and in fact the thing causing them to come and stay has been regressive border policies of the past 50 years.
