Nah, it's always been true. Mexicans have basically always been picking our food and the blacks we imported as slaves and then segregated into inner cities have always been the basis of our agriculture and industrial development.

You talk like these people were indispensable. They aren't. Without blacks or Mexicans, the States would still do fine. Businesses would just have to pay higher wages to attract laborers into the agricultural and industrial fields. End result? Workers get paid a living wage and refuse like the blacks and mexicans are kept out.

This has been tried. Theyve tried paying 25 an hour and whites just dont sign up.

Maybe it needs to be higher.

And before you say "it would drive companies out of business", I will simply point out, maybe businesses that can't afford to pay a decent wage to their employees should go bust.

It wouldn't drive companies out of business. It would annihilate the food economy in the United States.



Imagine going to the store and a tomato is $5. All the corn syrup is unaffected though, since that's all an industrial process without significant human intervention.

So what would end up happening is the easy to make highly processed shit that is nothing but high fructose corn syrup stays the same, and all the healthy fresh vegetables go up at least by a factor of 5.
