It wouldn't drive companies out of business. It would annihilate the food economy in the United States.
Imagine going to the store and a tomato is $5. All the corn syrup is unaffected though, since that's all an industrial process without significant human intervention.
So what would end up happening is the easy to make highly processed shit that is nothing but high fructose corn syrup stays the same, and all the healthy fresh vegetables go up at least by a factor of 5.
