They haven't been divorced YET.

Key difference. We'll know for sure in about seven years, but less than 50% would be a miracle by all historical standards.

Good place to be.

In our parent's generation marriage was romanticized and largely seen as the default mode of living.

Our generation isn't sold on that being the case, so the only ones getting married are the ones who actually want it.

The ones who do it will do it.

The ones who don't do it will go extinct and be forgotten.

that’s true. its the argument of the pro-abortion on demand person too “who cares if the baby dies and i wish my parents did the same to me, i dont care if im not around.” im not interested in that psychoanalysis. i just don’t blame people for doing their own thing nowadays.

like i said in my prior post. the current state of affairs facilitates this “going solo” phenomenon moreso than any other point in human history. blade runner ended up being quite correct, we are just behind schedule on the robots. my parents got married and had their children when the two parent household (which i view as imperative to raising children) was a value-added proposition, rather then viewed as some horrid relic of the past, and im very fortunate they keep making it work to this very day.

the average human can really give it a go solo in America now. not saying its best for everyone but it is best for some.

the real irony is that all this will hurt women the most and feminists pushed for it for decades

you got what you wanted, enjoy your cats and boxed wine

solid men however will thrive

i think preferences will change for a lot of people, gone is the era of family unit building for a good portion of the newer generations.

also they just need time to grow up. hitting late 20s/early 30s often leads to a shift in prioritization too

many women now no longer need marriage to get ahead or be happy. im a fan of equality. but yes, going it solo isn’t always rainbows and butterflies

Millenials are waiting so long to have babies that their first children are borne of geriatric pregnancies.

But everything has to be perfect first. It's insane the artificial conditions that have to be met to fulfill biology.

I'm so glad I had kids young and broke lol.

the youngest millenials are 24-25. thats still quite young to have a child imo; the child reaches 18 when you are 42-43 years old in this scenario

yes a lot are broke, this generation is going to have a ridiculous separation of haves and have nots. i have peers still messing around doing whatever, burned through their 20s in yolo mode. and then ones investing since 21-22, now buying homes and raising families and running divisions or their own firms. nothing different from prior generations, mind you.

and who says they havent been having kids this whole time while young and broke. anyone who went to high school and kept up with some classmates can probably point to a handful they know that had kids from 19-23 with little money to their name and limited career prospects. some just have the fortune of being able to live at mom and/or dads house

All the women I grew up are turning thirty soon and the dread is really starting to sink in on like 60% of them as they realize what the rest of their life will be like.
