Trump did not run on charity to government. I think it is entirely fitting of his character to pay as little as possible, and to see that as indicative of success. Trump ran on the premise that our leaders were incompetent and corrupt; that they were being swindled by cleverer opponents and were too eager to strike trade deals that were damaging to the American economy. His tax policy mostly focused around reforming the corporate tax rate and bringing overseas profits home.
If Trump ran specifically on raising his own taxes, and then dropped those proposals once in office, he deserves to be criticized. I don't recall that being the case. Criticizing Trump because he has good accountants? That's not a serious critique.
guess Trump is the only person to run for office with "good accountants" because no one else has any trouble disclosing their tax returns when prompted to.
but hey, why else would he go from promising to releasing his tax returns to outright lying about why he wasn't releasing them to throwing as many lawyers as possible in the way of people requesting to see them? someone with a history of bankrupting safe businesses, pissing investor money on nonsensical enterprises and running away with an informercial scam, no less? maybe the comments sections geniuses don't see a conspiracy here because they can't admit to falling for such a low-grade con, but it is what it is. don't criticize Trump because he's as much of a swindler as he admitted himself to be? lmao.
