Too early to tell if he will be an improvement over McCarthy. The budget debate is already coming back very soon when the current CR runs out in mid-November. We will see if Johnson can actually get a better outcome for his party than McCarthy. I'm sceptical since the war in Israel will put additional pressure on Republicans to cave, pressure which wasn't there when McCarthy folded in early October. If anything, the GOP's negotiating position has deteriorated, so I don't really see how they could get a meaningfully better result.
