the terms aren't at all mutually exclusive. i'm sure you've heard of Edward Snowden, the mythical criminal/whistleblower hybrid.

sometimes it pays to have a few goats around to scape. I think that Trump has done this on purpose, so that he can get cheap optics wins and distractions when he needs. Hope Hicks didnt bring much of anything, but her expulsion was a nice distraction.

It really doesn't, though. Omarosa was a bad hire from the start, and now she's turned into a PR disaster.

I'm pressing Trump supporters on this issue because it's very clearly a decision Trump fucked up big time on, even without the benefit of hindsight bias.

They should just take the L and move on, but instead they insist on defending/devil's advocating for every decision the President makes.

Y'all do know you don't have to defend everything Trump does, right? Nothing bad will happen to you if hold him accountable for a bad decision every once in a while.

Piece of advice: Shill on topics with more gray area like taxes or immigration, but just take the L or dodge on topics like Omarosa. Defending it just makes you look like a shill.

Completely true.

Obama was truly historic in how much he prosecuted whistlelblowers. He used the Espionage Act to go after whistleblowers more times than every other administration combined.

you're using too much hindsight to call it a disaster. bad hire? sure.

Omarosa isn't an idiot, she's a drama queen with far too much of a desire for the limelight. But she's also a big mouth, good strategist (we're seeing that play out), and black. she was hired as a fairly low level staffer, not made chief of staff or a secretary. I don't think anyone could have predicted she'd go mole on the whitehouse, that's why it's so fun to read about, its shockingly ballsy.

I think that Trump keeps people like her around because they're expendable, the fact she's a minority is the icing on the cake.

people forget that his white house from it's onset with Bannon has been a Art of War strategy, where confusion and diversion is used regularly. they're fairly transparent about it, Trump has been diverting from important stories with reality tv drama forever in the WH. Omarosa is goon in a situation like that. We cant devalue her to literally nothing, she's not an idiot, even if she is a backstabbing money grubber.

It's not hindsight bias to say she was a disastrous hire from the start. Trump hired a reality TV star to the West Wing of the White House...someone who made her name for generating drama. Trump was rightly criticized and hammered from the start about this hire.

Is it surprising that she is threatening to leak up to 200 tapes? Yes. But is it surprising that she was an awful hire? No.

Bonus question: Is it surprising that Trump supporters defend/devil's advocate the hire?

if you're running a taco stand you don't hire a 4 star chef. this is a reality TV white house. stop holding it to the standard of previous administrations.

Bonus question: am i a Trump supporter?

This is probably one of the best defenses that I've seen of the hire, but Trump supporters would be unlikely label the administration as a reality TV White House.

It's interesting to press Trump supporters on the Omarosa issue because it is a litmus test of how far they will go.
