that is more or less what he's doing

that's like saying "you guys should watch your sugar" and "sugar is now illegal" are "more or less" the same thing.

its personal optics bullshit, nothing more nothing less. i would have thought a watchdog on presidential power with an eye on precedent such as yourself would have opposed this for what it is. instead you seem dead set on playing the edgelord, Sad!

Don't mistake civil libertarianism for leaving your doors unlocked. Is he directing his goons to throw Brennan in a black bag and disappear him? He's cutting his access from the professional courtesy of continued security clearance for a retired official. Its an unprecedented time of constant leaks and ostensibly apolitical unaccountable intelligence heads / former heads turning out to be wild partisans with a raging hate-boner for Trump that they allow to interfere in their duties. And Trump's putting his house back in order. Locking out some of the more obviously foaming at the bit radicals like Brennan and I'd assume McCabe in the near future.

If this is supposed to be Trump's authoritarian reign, then its pretty incongruent how he's tackling the leakstravaganza by doing less to impinge on journalistic freedoms than Bush or Obama dared do and just boots the rebels out his front door and leaves them in the cold. A pretty civil crackdown if you ask me.

I didn't say, nor do i think, it's an authoritarian reign. he's just politically sniping, using the power of office, to take a jab at a guy who talks shit about him. He's doing it publicly for optics. i dont like presidents using powers for personal squabblings, and creating a precedent in the meantime that you can disrupt channels of information with those you dislike. when he could have just made a directive that none of the employees should seek consulting with Brennan without running it by the WH. it just seems to me that you care about precedent sometimes in situations like this when it suits you.

Your deafening silence about media authority abuse going about 30 years back is pretty telling about your hypocrisy

You're too late. We started doing what you were doing for generations so get over it

creating a nixonian secret blacklist seems like a far less accountable means of accomplishing the same thing as publicly cutting someone's security clearance. The goal is to deny him access to privileged information and consulting either way.
Trump clearly has more at stake with the rampant leaking than just a personal vendetta or political sniping. Having folks like McCabe, Strzok, Brennan, Yates, Page, Rice, etc running around with clearances even after they've demonstrated that they're not only political partisans but were willing to violate the apolitical role of their positions to stab Trump with their hate-boners, is a clear security risk. When someone shouts from the rooftops their willingness to be a liberal martyr, you take away the keys to the gun closet
