If Strzok sent those texts on his private cell, most of us wouldn't even know his name. FBI agents have political opinions... I'm sure there were agents on Hillary's investigation who hated her and expressed it on their private phones. Unless it influences them to take improper actions related to the investigation, who the hell cares? Are we going to need to review the texts of every agent on a high profile politically related investigation?

I'm not talking about the texts as much as his Congressional hearing. That was a total embarasment for everybody - including both the GOP House and Strzok.

Who does that guy think he is? It's one thing to send a late night text to a chick you're trying to sleep with, it's another to act like a pompous idiot in front of the entire nation when you're supposed to be representing an organization like the FBI.

You didn't think Strzok came across as an incompetent weirdo in his testimony? I didn't get the impression he was the calibre of someone worthy of overseeing two major FBI investigations.

He was trying to sleep with people on his own team during all this. That's a very basic level of unprofessionalism and misconduct. Even if this is purely a perception issue as Strzok says, it's still a blow to the FBI.

Yup, that’s why Trump recently put another round of sanctions on Russia, otherwise even more people would find out they own & control him.

you think that igloo-licking foreign voyeur even noticed the new sanctions? too busy making enraged spam threads here

yes it looks bad, but he was trying to court Lisa Page, someone who probably dislikes Trump more than Strzok, of course he's going to say dumb shit that's going to be taken out of context. Do you really take that text literally? Why is it that we're supposed to take everything literally EXCEPT when it comes to the president, we're frequently told "oh, don't take him seriously" or "don't take it literally".

fair point.

I agree that particular text is troubling... and warranted questioning. Still, the others aren't bothersome at all to anyone who accepts that government officials who are tasked to run investigations or prosecute people might have strong personal opinions of those people.

the OIG found substantial reason to believe that Strzok's personal bias interfered with his prioritizing the Trump investigation over the Hillary investigation
we can't say based on these thin reports whether Horowitz gave any further recommendation to Bowdich beyond the normal disciplinary process.

what actions did Strzok take in that hearing that made him look like a "pompous idiot"?

Are you sure you're not confusing Gohmert w/ Strzok!?!?!?

and we're still trying to discredit people for having affairs with co workers? let's be real, Donnie would sleep with Hope Hicks (or even maybe Ivanka) if he could get away with it...

Quote (FBI Director Christopher Wray’s Statement on Release of Inspector General’s Report)

With that in mind, let me briefly address the findings of the inspector general’s report.

I take this report very seriously, and we accept its findings and recommendations. It’s also important to note what the inspector general did not find. The report did not find any evidence of political bias or improper consideration actually impacting the investigation under review. But the report does identify errors of judgment, violations of or disregard for policy, and decisions that, at the very least, in hindsight, were not the best choices.

I agree that everything deserves to be evaluated in its proper context, but Strozk is still a huge embarrassment for the FBI, even if it's just a perception issue. His behavior leaves a lot to the imagination, and Mueller was right to fire him when he did.

I'm glad we have a Special Counsel looking into all of this because at this point between Strzok/McCabe/Comey and the respective OIG reports on the FBI over the past few years, I wouldn't have much faith in the institution to do it right. I have much more faith in Mueller.

Christopher Wray actually looks to be a great FBI pick. I hope he leads the Bureau out of this mess and restores some of the norms that Comey violated. Trump is right, Comey is a total showboat. It doesn't surprise me one bit how he has tried to profit off of his own self-inflicted blunders (press conference, letter) in the aftermath of his firing with his book tour.
