Also feel bad for them honestly. About a year ago, this gypsy family came to my church and the church helped them out best they could. Basically crossed the border illegally with like 4 kids (one was a toddler) and somehow made it up to the northeast. We've had a lot of Ukrainians come too, but those actually are here legally for the most part.
I don't know what the long term solution is but reality is the number of people that want to come here is not millions but hundreds of millions, realistically maybe even 1-2 billion . If something doesn't change and this country continues to absorb millions every year, our social safety nets will just collapse, particularly when we have 32+trillion in debt, with entitlements+safety nets already probably to be targeted for cuts.
Yea that's the bottom line. Every country would love to help these people hypothetically but only the United States is everyone's safe harbor so if your country is burning and your starving you'll do anything to get to a place of safety and the US id your first choice.
Being homeless in America you can survive. Any other country your dead imo
It's more sad as someone mentioned that other countries REFUSE to take these people in and they are "landlocked" with the Middle East.
China would never and will never take in anyone
Saudi Arabia same thing
All these 1st world countries refuse to take in these people because they know the downfalls.
If you ask the average American household, "Hey would you be willing to house immigrants from a foriegn country in your home" 99% will say no but our government continues to make it seem like we would. Really sad because the democratic party uses this as leverage against Republicans and makes it seem like only Republicans are "against" foreign immigration but in reality Democrats are just as likely to say "no"....
