And yet there's still a very lively group of Christians trying to drag us back.

And they were a major source of support for the Bush wars. Really, the violence of Christianity had been absorbed into the culture of the government and so it has a veneer of legitimacy and detachment. Whereas the violence of Islam is grass roots and put on full display.

I strongly dislike the evangelicals, but let's not forget that the Bush wars really made this "wing" of the republican party go extinct.

Let's also not forget that short-sighted wars on foreign soil have been a staple of american foreign "policy" for over a century - it is intellectually dishonest if you claim that the "violence of Christianity being absorbed into the culture of the government" was the main reason for the Bush wars.

To paraphrase Bill Clinton: "It's the oil, stupid!"

So then the violence from Islam is decades old and mainly caused by constant destabilization of the region.

It's the blowback stupid

Really there's lots of causes, but you don't get to ignore the religion on one but not the other, and you don't get to ignore the politics in one and not the other either

so how is the destablization of the region by the western countries responsible for honor lynchings, sexual violence, the oppression of women, gays and infidels in muslim countries all over the world? those things appear everywhere where muslims live, from europe over the destabilized middle east/north africa region, to the non-destabilized pakistan, india and south east asia. and they have been a part of the islamic culture long before the west started interfering in the middle east.

one could argue that radical islamic terrorism is in large parts fueled by "our" wrongdoings, but not all this other backwards stuff ingrained in their culture.

to be fair, his prediction was based on the assumption that future administrations would be committed to at least SOME level of fiscal responsibility - which the strong economy that obama handed over to trump would certainly have allowed.
funding a stimulus package for a healthy economy by accelerating the deficit, just to boost some numbers, is of course highly irresponsible and probably counter-productive long term, but unsurprisingly the cult just conveniently ignores that part and simplisticly focuses on the shiny stuff waved in front of their faces.

most likely it will be up to a democrat to fix that one day - history repeats itself...

Believe it or not the Middle East was not always so backwards. A major factor in the current wave of radicalization and conservative thinking was the direct result of our efforts to galvaniz them against an atheistic Russia.

Additionally, just because a specific country was not directly destabilize to does not mean they will not feel the cultural overlap with destabilized regions

You're trying to treat these things like they exist in a vacuum but they don't. It's really the same reason why a gun ban in California is ineffective, you can't surround yourself with guns and then declare yourself gun free and expect guns to suddenly stopped coming in.

Uhh.... Obama’s economic policies are in full swing right now...
He inherited a shit storm from Bush and fixed it.
It takes more than 8 years to get out of a hole like that.
Proof is in the slope/rate of change/trend still on an upward hill from obama era. If he sucked, it would’ve dropped and be going up... but it’s been an upward trend

Also, post some videos of metal in that thread you swine

People that fail to predict the future should shut up and let the successful people handle it.

The worst recessions in history lasted 8 months if you don't prolong it with subsidies.
