black people are some of the most racist individuals when it comes to intergroup racism. It's no secret that black men or women dating white men or women is seen as taboo. But they also have an incredibly difficult time dealing with mixed race individuals. Here we see commentators alleging that The Rock downplays his blackness when it suits him, when the simple fact is that light skinned black men are mocked openly in the black community. "Light skinned" is a common insult used in the community. Hilariously someone suggests Rock isn't black enough, but that Common the rapper would be, when both have similar skin tone.

Do I think we need a Rock headlined John Henry movie? No. The rock has saturated the market with his big studio low plot failures in the last few years, casting a meh light on a legend like John Henry seems dumb. Do i think situations like this expose black people as just as racist as most white, yup. Black people are slowly moving from a segregated closed sector of society and are being outed for their behavior on social media. It's the same thing we see with dumb whites calling 9-11 on barbecues.

I like The Rock. I liked him when he was Battling Stone Cold Steve Austin in the ring when i was a kid. I liked him when I found out he was a UM ball player. I like most of his movies. He deserves all the success he has - he's earned it.

The Rock as a person deserves his success. But even people who deserve their station can be exploited. Do I blame him for taking 20 million a movie for 3 movies a year? No. Just like I dont blame Kevin Hart for exploiting his fans with weird comedy platforms that youtube already covers for free under the guise of helping comedians. Get that money. But i'm not even going to watch Skyscraper. If Jumanji didnt have a tinge of nostalgia i wouldn't have watched that either, even though it was a decent movie. The Rock needs to watch his legacy, or he'll convert into a Nick Cage type that has a clean 50-50 ratio of good movies and trash. Studios know that no Rock blockbuster will lose money, even if it isn't a hit, and they're exploiting that. it's up to the Rock if he wants to just keep taking 20 mil paychecks or if after a certain point there's a diminishing return.

IMO he could just only do Fast and Furious movies and make fucking bank. I hate the movies, but i agree. He's pimping the fuck out right now. I don't see a problem in it, but he has so much money - at what point does the scale tip from $$$ to his repuation/legacy. I imagine he's getting very close to that.

He seems like a great guy, i base that on very little because i obviously don't know him. I saw this the other day and thought it was pretty cool.

he really does seem like an incredible guy with a work ethic that's unbelievable. he's still putting out good movie, and somehow the fast movies are still watchable even closing in on a dozen of them.... unreal
