Trump's ego would never allow him to resign. Imho, it's more likely that he dies of a natural cause in office than that he resigns.
The only avenue I could envision for him to leave the WH voluntarily is that he decides not to run for reelection. He could just say that he kept all his promises, successfully went through his agenda and made america great again, so his job is done and there's no need for a 2nd term. Which would be complete bullshit, but a rationalization for him to step down in James K. Polk style.
