To me, from the outside... it looks like a whole bunch of. ... not much.

Has the EU provided a unified rail system? Adequate defense of itself? Unified healthcare, retirement, pricing standards?

Yes, it helps with trade, relying mostly on the good graces of their trading partners, and it seem to help with internet issues. I don't see much else. Except ofc, I don't see Belgium being over run with muslims. I don't see Belgium having any issues, financially. I pretty much see Belgium floating in the cream that floats on top of all that goes on in the EU.

Why do you mention Belgium?

Also, large parts of infrastrucure have been subsidied by the EU. Entire highways in Eastern Europe are pretty much only there because of EU subsidies. A high-speed rail network is also among EU-subsidied infrastructure efforts, along with energy infra.

It is far too early to unify healthcare or retirement, that would only be possible in a Federal Europe, which we are far away from.

'just the trade' hu ? Then things can degenerate pretty quickly, especially during a very major recession.
This take years, history books could help you because i wont go further, seems it doesn't worth it.

Not wanting to give sovereignty up to an european parliament but wanting free trade dowsnt make you isolationist is all i was getting at.

Youre quick to jump to conclusions and insults, which makes me suspicious that you hold strong beliefs but lack a grasp of the issues at hand as well as the point of view of others. I do not doubt the stances you hold have some good qualities, i just think, at this point, that you do not fully recognize the tradeoffs of those good qualities which is why you can not answer my question.

You remind me a lot of the average trump supporter actually. Very set in his mind about an idea, quick to put people down that disagree, make baseless assumptions about them, and dismiss them at every possible turn, even when they are asking a simple question. I find it extra amusing that "seems it doesnt worth it" to you to explain WHY you support the ideas you insult people for disagreeing with.

Im not sure where you were going with the whole everything will degenerate and go jnto a recession thing, plemty of trade systems are in place between many successful countries that dont include any one of them giving up any of their political sovereignty to one another and rheyre doing just fine.

I have taken university level history in american and european studies btw.

The seven institutions of the European Union (EU) are seated in four different cities, viz. Brussels, Frankfurt, Luxembourg and Strasbourg, rather than being concentrated in a single capital city. The EU agencies and other bodies are located all across the union,[1] but usually not fixed in the treaties. The Hague is the only exception, as the fixed seat of the European Police Office (Europol). Over the years, Brussels has become the principal seat, with each major institution and now the European Council being based wholly or in part there,[2] leading to it being popularly known as "the capital of the EU".

Maybe because Brussels is considered the "capital of the EU"

Some birds were outside my window when waking up.
Saw some people golfing to use most of the season.
Someone on a moped was driving, from and to an unknown location.
Quite chilly afternoon.
