it depends a LOT on the industry. but in the trades i rarely find a worker who's not wildly pro union. easy to understand when for example an Oshkosh Truck assembler makes 35$/hour and gets 4 weeks off a year paid, when in a non union factory they make 20$/hour.

i know quite a few railroad workers, and they all love the union. but i cant say a sample size of 5 dudes is representative.

There’s pros and cons to unions like all things. How many of them five would have voted for Hillary? Teamsters financially has supported the Democrats all the way back to Bill Clinton. Not the members, but the organization that takes their dues to support candidates that most would never vote for.

all of the UAW workers i know, maybe 10, vote GOP 100% of the time except for 1 who's a dem voter. all of the railroad guys i know are vocally pro trump guys and were conservatives before trump.

teamsters seem less blue collar and very diverse, but idk anyone in that union. i know electricians, prison guards, cops, teachers, etc. just about all unions but teamsters lol.

Yeah 20 plus years.

if youre not lying (which I doubt) youre the first person Ive met in my entire life that is a union worker who doesnt think unions represent the needs of its members

The majority of the teamsters I know are pro republican, but teamsters has endorsed democrats. So how does that show a representation of its members?

https://teamster.org/2020/08/teamsters-endorse-biden-harris/

https://teamster.org/2016/08/teamsters-endorse-hillary-clinton-president/

https://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/21/us/politics/21teamsters.html

“While they supported Republicans Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush for president in the 1980s, they have begun leaning largely toward the Democrats in recent years; they have donated 92% of their $24,418,589 in contributions since 1990 to the Democratic Party.”

Oh, look....the usual GOP cucks don't even realize that the NTSB is an independent agency, outside of the DoT. But don't let that stop them from REEEEEEEEING for political points.

Union members may vote republican, but unions like teamsters are pro democrat. One of my biggest annoyance with unions is…that they in the long run don’t represent the need of the workers.

Ok

Unions don't represent the best interest of workers... what does?

being able to do your own negotiating sometimes helps. I’m making more at a non union power plant than what i would be under a plant with IBEW as the union. I was part of teamsters and the tobacco and bakery union. Seen the same thing in both. Where reps would work hard to get family members and friends into high paying positions and screw over the guy that’s been there for 30 years.

Nepotism exists independent of the unions? It's not a problem thats unique to unions and occurs generally both in the private sector and public sector.

Never said I didn’t agree with that. Simply that it’s usually best to depend on yourself. I’ve had bad experiences with union reps… especially when it came down to plant closures and strikes. Seemed the reps ended up being just a corporate buy off in the end.
