we have debates about whether trans laws hurt too many feelings.
you have debates that are scrubbed from the internet about whether locking down an entire city overnight is ok, whether a social credit score should force you to leave a city because of lack of a job and house, and whether uyghurs still have both kidneys in the prison camp they'll die in.
the idea they're even on the same level morally, discounting our high ground, is absurd.
That is how an authoritarian government works. I don't believe the Uyghur situation now. But lets put it this way, if it was 10 15 years back, and You are telling me the Uyghur situation , I can give u a nod.
We have the same sort of government control in Singapore as well less draconian as compared to China.
In regards to the social credit score, it was tested and they might scrap it . But what they were trying to do was exactly what my country did before in Singapore when technology wasn't that advanced.
I can understand your position, And I am pretty sure you haven't worked or traveled overseas in these countries enough to know their culture deep enough to understand why such rules or methods were used.
It is admirable that you think Americans and Chinese are pretty much on the same level of education and culture.
But please note that you and I grew up in very different culture and country.
My ideas and how I view politics and way of life is very close to this man , my Ex Prime Minister.
Here are some rather provocative quotes from him.
