This is fundamentally wrong and completely misunderstands what makes you feel ill. When you feel ill it's because of your immune response, not because of the infection.

Children's immune systems aren't fully developed and give weaker responses. You are developing your T-Cells until you are a teenager, and as a result children typically have weaker immune responses than adults. That's why children tend to get things adults just don't as often, like ear infections, and why children tend to die of diseases at high rates in less developed countries.

So a child doesn't feel bad as long as an adult because they have weaker and longer lasting responses, compared to an adult that has a much more intense response over a shorter period until you get well past your prime, at which point your immune system starts to wane.

Notice of awareness, Thor works in an academic laboratory closely linked to the pharmaceutical industry.

Pro-vax as a "viewpoint"? Does this mean that "Globe Earth" is also a "viewpoint"?

Welcome back. I hope we can avoid a repeat (of what, I don't know).

Fairly average technician in a scientific instrumentation company.

Its a bit on the uncomplicated side, but I'll be set up well half a decade from now.

Its also scary because you see how much China's academic and private chemistry laboratories are exploding in size and scale compared to the West.

they're going to go insane on robotics and then they'll need population control. even at like 5$/day pay robots will outpace their labor, then its time for paid sterilization for the population i'd guess. 1 child rule will look like nirvana to them.

So you worked on a factory line, got a job as an engineer, got fired, stocked shelves for a while, and now can't get a job anywhere except as a level 1 or 2 entry-level tech.

Kind of look like an asshole for bragging about how much money you make now don't you?

Their replacement rate is lower than ours so I disagree on the timing and the scale.

It'll be fun to see who is right.

IMO the fact that China sent all of its women to college is going to collapse their fertility rate. And the best of their women tend to immigrate here and get used and abused in NYC.

The other guy was a jerk, so he kinda deserved it.

The business model for many pharmaceutical companies is like working for the mafia, there are a lot of perks if you are loyal and willing to bury a body when your manager asks you to.

replacement rate is a fine metric, but unskilled to skilled labor ratio, poverty level, and overall population tell a more complete story. what do u do with 300 million people educated to out middle school level when a robot takes their jobs all in a 10 year period?

One of two things, they either move to burgeoning fields or become addicted to opiates - depending on how the numbers add up.

Public unions are incredibly powerful as well. I wouldn't be surprised if unions just kneecapped automation with regulations using their political capital.
