It's one of those things that straddles the line. There is no centralized "Antifa" leadership, but there are local groups that claim to be part of Antifa and individuals that claim to be part of Antifa, but that doesn't mean an Antifa group in California has any connection to an Antifa group in New York because there isn't centralized authority or organization.

you could replace "Antifa" with "KKK" and your post would still be accurate.

none of this semantics tho changes how disingenuous the "fact check" was by WaPo. Nor that they neglect to do the same if right leaning groups are accused of violence. they've "identified" every single school shooter as alt right or "belonging to groups" like 4chan posters.

the same news paper that supports people self identifying on sex however they choose needs to give a 3 page explanation on how self identification to leftist groups isn't real. it's fucking dumb.

Yeah I was thinking about it and I agree that it's very unlikely they would ever do this to the alt right or give the same leeway to right focused movements in general.

It doesn't really apply to the KKK though because they have specific leadership, record keeping, etc. etc. There was a KKK meeting hall a few towns over from where I grew up.

in reality the KKK has about as much national leadership and common agreed upon goals as Antifa, that is vague platitudes "stop capitalism" = "kill jew bankers", "end police violence" = "stop race mixing", etc.

but the control is state level, the national KKK leader is just a figurehead for hate. someone who can inspire with vague words, not specific plans. when you look at state by state or even county by county they differ wildly on what they think the plan should be. how violent. which races are actually a problem. etc.

its actually very similar to Antifa or BLM in that regard. likeminded separate groups that disagree on a spectrum with what specific plans are good plans, and a lot of overlap.
