I you think the effect on US jobs is negative sum, then how do you explain the unions embracing and lauding the tariffs? They'd be the ones getting hurt or helped, and they say it helps.
The argument of free trade being positive sum vs zero sum protectionism is what the 2016 election was all about, and here we get to see the economic theories in praxis. Can you say with certainty the way it will turn out?
