I have two engineering degrees
My girlfriend has an engineering degree
My sister is a semester away from her forensic science degree
Two of my cousins are pharmacists.
One of my cousins is a school teacher
Another cousin is soon to finish his radiology degree
One of my friends is finishing his PhD in chemistry
Another is finishing his Masters in English
All of us are hard working, responsible, respectful, and loving people.
The common denominator?
We were all swatted on the ass when we acted up and were lucky enough to have responsible and loving parents to explain to us what we did wrong.
We all followed a path that lead us to what we wanted, because we were taught to work for what we have and not scream and complain when we didnt get our way.
Beating a child is never right, all it takes is a light smack. If you are a good enough parent, you only need to swat them a few times in their lives, and they learn.
I'm honestly completely stumped how "I was hit by my parents and turned out fine!" is seriously being put forth as a valid argument to support corporal punishment.
Plenty of people were raped, abused, etc. as kids and turned out fine, doesn't make it ok.
And many people were physically punished as kids and turned out to have mental illnesses.
The end result is not all that matters.
