You said that a contingent universe would require an uncaused cause. What if a contingent universe is wholly contingent throughout space and time and yet still exists without an unmoved mover?

Nono, that's not at all what I meant.

I said that IF the universe was NOT eternal (I think you are suggesting it is), THEN it would require a cause. But it being eternal is certainly something to consider.

I just mean the universe cannot be finite in time/have a beginning without a cause.

Well the "uncaused cause" would be eternal, as the universe must be if the cause does not exist.

The idea behind the argument is that because of the nature of the universe, eternality cannot be a quality of it, so there must be an eternal cause.
