4.1% quarterly growth in Q2/2018, and 2.2% in Q1/2018 - this doesnt add up to an annual growth rate of 4%...
quarterly growth rates fluctuate quite a lot, based on the weather also because they encompass a smaller period of time where singular events exert a larger influence.
dont get me wrong, those are rock-solid numbers, and a mean growth rate of 3.45% in 2018 so far with an annual consumer price inflation of "just" 1.8% is fantastic news.
but overall, that's still quite a bit below 4% annual growth.
corporations also use Q1 to set up their budgets for the year for new projects after analysis of previous Q4. Q2 is generally a spending spree, Q3 drops in the same cycle, and Q4 is a spending spree to clear out fiscal year budgets.
