If Trump actually got impeached couldn't he step down, make Mike president, Mike rehire Trump as his Vice and then step down making Trump president again?

Afaik, an impeached person is not eligible to become vice president or president again.
Also, why should Pence step down for Trump again after he is president? He'd tell Trump to fuck off, lol.
And the mainstream republicans would stand firmly behind Pence, since he would largely enact the same domestic agenda (minus the tariffs), but without all the controversy/drama/toxicity that has the potential to drag the GOP's down-ballot candidates down as well. If the congressional republicans found a way of replacing Trump with Pence without being hit by a gigantic and devastating backlash from their base, they wouldnt hesitate one second.

it is Trump's party, but only as long as the base stands behind Trump. the congressional republicans dont follow Trump because they are convinced by his leadership, they follow him because they're scared.

this isn't being talked about enough IMO despite that I've mentioned it at least twice now in this thread or the other one:

Just hours after the government announced Butina’s arrest, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin declared that the IRS was reducing the reporting requirements for donations to social welfare groups. Under this new guidance, 501(c)(4) groups will no longer need to reveal most of their donations on their tax returns, even to the IRS.

In my opinion, it’s hard to see this move as anything except an effort to help big-money donors cover their tracks. Without a list of donors, the IRS can’t know when an organization is being used to further the interests of those backers, instead of the public.

The timing is curious as well... Time to strip the NRA of tax exempt status?

Remember trump touting that b/s about his administration would be the most transparent or whatever? (At the least he's said a few times that transparency is important, which is total B/S coming from him).

I don't see how you can be a fan of dark money/foreign powers influencing U.S. politics...

It isn't the charity or healthcare companies that want this, that is for sure.

acting guilty means nothing to trump cultists...

look at Trump for instance... they all act guilty... remember the famous Manafort interview? you couldn't pay someone to act more guilty.

To be fair, Strzok also acted guilted as hell during his testimony. But the common denominator is all these people looked guilty.

Did you watch the thing? He had a guilty smirk on the whole time. How he can sit there and say he has no bias but also say "No. No he won't. We'll stop it" , just doesn't pass the sniff test to me.

Even if the FBI has a ton of checks and balances in place to prevent the influences of personal bias, Strzok has damaged the perception and integrity of the FBI very greatly.

Look at another text he sent: "I want to believe the path you [Lisa Page] threw out for consideration in Andy’s [McCabe] office - that there’s no way he gets elected - but I’m afraid we can’t take that risk"

Maybe he was just trying to get into Lisa Page's pants and was over-selling his and the FBI's influence in the whole thing? Not discounting that. But I just don't see how there's any way he can check all his biases at the door, it's not in human nature to do that.

In the sake of fairness, a lot of these people are in some of the most stressful situations of their lives. Carter Page, Strzok, etc. So even if they are telling the truth, they could appear guilty just due to some underlying social anxiety. Some people handle it better than others.

That said, I'm no body language expert, but Page looks guilty as hell during this interview with Tapper lol.
